HOLIDAYS 2014

THIS WAS THE BEST CHRISTMAS BREAK EVER

And boy was I busy!

To kick things off, on the 23rd I threw a party for all of the current and alumn theatre kids from my high school.  It was a reunion of sorts, it was super great to see everyone, and there was so much food that we had enough leftovers to cover every meal for the next two weeks.

(this was the ugly little cover photo I made for the fb group)

For Christmas Eve we have an undeclared tradition of finally wrapping presents and running to Target an hour before it closes in order to get forgotten gifts.  I am proud to announce that I was the first to have all of her presents wrapped and under the tree.

Christmas morning was magical, as you would expect.

We opened and exchanged gifts, our special Christmas breakfast was made to perfection, and most lovely of all was the snow.  Leading up to Christmas everything had melted and MN was brown and icky.  Lo and behold, on Christmas day it began to steadily snow, and soon after everything was covered in a blanket of white.

I jumped up and said, "It's a Christmas miracle!"

The following days were beautifully relaxing and they couldn't have been any better.  Then on Sunday, Gavin, Marissa & Justin, and their 4 year old, 2 year old, and newborn came to little ole MN.  That night we stayed up until 3 am just talking and catching up.

The next week with them included Christmas Part II, Mall of America, movies, ice cream, many "dance classes" and journeys on rocket ships, and even more snuggles with the cutest four-month old on the planet.

On New Years Eve we have a tradition of playing live-action Candyland; a children's board game made even more difficult for adults by adding candy rewards with each checkpoint you reach in the game.  We were all sugared-out from gumdrops, peanut brittle, molasses cookies, popsicles, and much, much more.

I am so grateful for these best friends of mine. I always have a good time when family is around.
